Special Instructions
Give your puppy a small amount of Nutri-cal as soon as he/she arrives. To prevent problems with hypoglycemia give the pup about 1/2 cc. of nutri-cal by mouth every 6 hours until what we send is gone, then 1/2 cc morning and evening until 4 months of age. Make sure he or she is eating and don’t let him or her go to bed on an empty stomach. Your puppy needs plenty of clean water available at all times. Dry food should be available at all times; altering their diet is not a good idea at this time.
LIMIT play time to just a few minutes (10 to 15 min) 3 or 4 times a day for the first few days. The harder and longer the puppy plays the more likely it is to have blood sugar problems. Use discretion in this area ! The puppy needs lots of sleep they are just babies and very fragile, they don’t know not to jump out of your arms or off of high objects so please be very careful.
Adherence to these instructions can not be over stressed ! They are absolutely essential to your puppy's well being. Please help us to help you... If you have any health concerns with your pup please call 24/7 we are here to help. MAKE US YOUR FIRST CALL 580-212-6975 -- 580-212-6976 Douglas
If you need a canned puppy food we use Cesar puppy food.
Note: If your puppys ears are up keep in mind that they may from time to time tip down. Some times when the pup cuts teeth or doesn't feel good or is under stress. We have found that when a pups ears are up early that almost without fail come back up.
We recommend that you chose your vet carefully. There are really good vets out there and there are some whose only concern is the money to be made. Chose wisely. The vet check done here for the health certificate is to assure that we have shipped you a healthy puppy. Every effort has be made to assure that you recieve your puppy in a healthy condition. The stress of travel and getting use to a new enviornment can weaken the immune system of the puppy. So we recommend that you be vigilent in addressing any health concerns that you might have for you puppy, your vet should be your partner in caring for your puppy.
If your VET does a test for parvo it will most likely give a false positive due to the fact that we use a modified live virus vaccine to prevent parvo. The treatment for parvo involves several days of hospitalization, extreme stress on the puppy at a critical time in its life and some extremely high vet bill (Typically 2 to 4 thousand dollars). Our recommendation is not to treat this pup for parvo unless your puppy is showing symptoms of parvo. We find that the adage "If it's not broke don't fix it" works very well in this case. We use a very good parvo vaccine and have a very ridged vaccine program and have had no incidence of parvo in over 5 years.
